Reflections For Sunday 25th July 2010

Reflections For Sunday 25th July 2010

Luke 11:1-13 Intercom

The Gospel shows us Jesus at prayer. He is not only teaching he disciples to pray, he is praying himself. The Lord’s Prayer, in very few words gives us an encyclopedia on the spiritual life. Luke’s version of the Our Father is shorter than Matthew’s, and there is no indication of a Sermon on the Mount.

We are to ask our Father for the bread that is necessary. We are to ask, to seek and knock trusting that we will be cared for. Just as a child trusts his parents to give a fish or and egg instead of a scorpion or a snake, Jesus invites us to trust that God will give us what we need.

He will not deceive us.

R.C.I.A.

R.C.I.A.

R.C.I.A: is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is for those of other faiths or no faith who wish to enquire into what Catholics believe. It is also for those who for one reason or another drifted away from the Catholic faith and would like to return to practice their faith again. The RCIA programme runs at St Mary’s from September 2010 through to Pentecost 2011. Two girls Emma and Tahnee followed the programme last year and found it enlightening. They were received into the Catholic Church at Easter. If anyone of the above categories would like to apply to participate please arrange for a meeting with one of the priests at St Mary’s and pick up an application form. Ring 028 9032 0482 or e-mail administratorofstmarys@btinternet.com
